Detail
`The 5th Asian Pacific Dental Congress will be held in Seoul for five days, from April 24 to April 28.
The purpose of the Asian Pacific Dental Federation, which was formed in 1955 and now consists of 10 member nations, is to closely cooperate in the scientific research of the dentistry and to explore ways to improve the standard of health condition, specifically the oral hygiene in the Asian and Pacific region.
Korea was formally affiliated with the Federation on March 24, 1958, when it sent five delegates to the second Congress held in Manila, the Philippines.
The 5th Congress to be held in Seoul will be attended by more than 1,000 delegates from 10 member nations - Hong Kong, the Nationalist China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, South Vietnam, Japan and Korea - and 4 observer countries. They will discuss ways to advance the dentistry in the region as a whole and will make common efforts to improve the oral hygiene, presenting lectures and exhibiting the newly-developed dental appliances and instruments. Besides, they plan to expand the organization by approving the application for the new membership from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
An old saying goes in our country : healthy teeth is one of the five blessings from the heaven. We wish that Seoul Congress will direct more our concern to the oral hygiene and will lead us to a serene and healthy life.`
